Southside Volunteer Fire Department receives new fire skid unit

Jacqueline Blanchard and Fire Cheif Glynn Anderson with the new fire skid unit from GlobalMedic.

We're very excited that the Southside Fire department has been selected as a recipient of a brand new fire skid unit, supplied by GlobalMedic and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services. Fire Chief Glynn Anderson picked up the new unit in Mount Pearl in late April 2026.

The self-contained Fire Skid Unit contains a 1000 litre water tank, a high-pressure pump, and specialized hose, that can be mounted on a small trailer or in the back of a pickup truck. It will help the fire department get to areas that are hard to reach with the larger fire trucks, and react fast to brush and grass fires before they can escalate.

Thank you to GlobalMedic and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services!
